I have a bottle of Jonnie Walker Black in a 1/2 gallon bottle with a cradle that my father in law has had for about 30 years, never been opened ,it still has the old, what i believe to be the tax band over the cap,the numbers can easily be read. You can see that the level in the bottle is down, probely from natural evaporation? My question is does it get better wiht age? Does it mellow? Is it worth anything? Anything that anybody can tell me will be helpful, cause if there is no value I am going to drink it!!

The whisky shouldn't change substantially with age when it is bottled. However, the evaporation shows that changes have taken place - probably not to the better, but I can't tell. I doubt that the bottle has any special value, so my advise would be to try a drink. If it's OK then enjoy the bottle, otherwise keep it for fun or dump it...
