Hello folks,

I dont have any real experience with whisky, but I would like some advice on good whiskeys to try.

I dont know the difference in taste between scotches and bourbons. I suspect I would like bourbon more, is it true that its relatively milder/easier to drink?

In bourbons, I tried Jim Beam, Jack Daniels..they were my two favorites. I also liked Dewars in scotches. I cant afford any of the more expensive stuff (20 dollars is basically how much i am willing to spend), though I would like to try other famous kinds some time (gentleman jack, johnnie walker and chivas regal). Any suggestions for tasty affordable whiskeys?

Is there any brand that is rich and yummy, yet smooth/not harsh? I hope i am making sense despite my amaturishness.

Hello Ramezmikhail, first of all welcome on the forum,it is not nesessarily that a bourbon would be easier to drink than scotch or smsw. There are some good brands that can withstand competition with any scotch. If you like to try out blended and single malt whiskies i suggest you find out if there is a whiskyfest in your region, this can be local, done by a club or bigger by a organisation such as whisky live etc.I don`t know the prices in US?$ but some nice "beginners" whiskies would be the classic malts selection from Diageo, you can also look for a pub in your neighbourhood that has some smsw,a good chance you`ll find some people that might be interested in the same thing too and can help you out as well.
Succes with your discoveries.
Eric.
