Bowmore 1968 Islay Single Malt has been awarded top honour in the Scottish Field Whisky Merchants’ Challenge.

 

The rare Bowmore 37 Years Old achieved a Highly Recommended from the judges in the New Scotch Releases category. Described by whisky expert and writer, Charles MacLean as “…Rich, fruity, oily, mellow. Plums and Maraschino cherries, almond oil…….Complex and elderly……..Chewy. Splendid!” the limited edition bottling has just been made available through Specialist Whisky Retailers.  

 

Glen Moore, Bowmore Brand Director said: “This new release demonstrates the complexity of Bowmore single malt and the influence the cask type has on Bowmore.   1. Bowmore 37 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited edition of only 708 bottles. Its is 43.4% ABV. Its RRSP is £595.
  2. Bowmore Distillery was established in 1779. It is the second oldest distillery in Scotland and the oldest on the island of Islay. Bowmore Distillery employs traditional methods, including malting its own barley, a practice maintained by only a handful of distilleries in Scotland. The sustainable working practices employed at the distillery have seen it formally recognised by the EC as one of the greenest operations in Europe.
  3. Islay has a population of c. 3,000 and has eight distilleries.
  4. Bowmore Distillery is owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Limited which is a subsidiary of Suntory Ltd, Japan.
